The first assignment in Writing 220, the gateway course into the minor, is a "Why I Write" essay. The prompt for the essay asked us to explain the source of our pull toward writing. My first thought was: "I write because that's what people have told me I'm good at". But I knew there were other factors that drew me to and kept me engaged with writing. In my essay, I explore some of the more personal and emotional reasons why I write.
