In my Capstone Project, you will find several stories about my dog, Max (middle), and me. I do not assume that every aspect of my relationship with Max is generalizable to all relationships between humans and dogs. On the contrary, I know all too well that there are many human-dog relationships that breach a code of ethical behavior. Instead, I tell my stories as a portal to investigating how humans and dogs interact so as to create a model of informed and reasonable interaction. In doing so, I present some of the research I have conducted in my search to understand both why dogs behave in certain ways and why and how humans are capable of developing such profound and reciprocal relationships with them.
